THe INspiration

It started with this sweater.

In November 2025, we acquired an original 1940s Carnegie Tech Letterman Sweater. This quickly led us down a rabbit hole of research into the history behind it.

We spent days digging through old editions of The Thistle, Carnegie Tech and Carnegie Mellon’s yearbook, uncovering a tradition that spanned nearly seven decades. We traced its earliest appearance to 1907 and its last to 1974.

The Letterman Sweater is our attempt to bring this lost tradition back to life, drawing inspiration from the original garment and the generations of students who wore it before us.

When you wear the tartan “C” on your chest, it should mean something. Wear it with Tartan Pride.

Every Piece has a story.

Vintage pieces often fit differently than their original tag size due to natural shrinkage over time and different sizing standards. We measure each garment and label it according to men’s standard sizing, adding two sizes to each piece to give you the best idea of how it might fit.
